Half Term Blues

So, which bright spark decided to invent half-term?

We can see that it is good fun for the children and it’s nice for the teachers to have a break but half-term and the working parent is an unhappy combination. As yet, employers are still to introduce this system to the working world meaning that there is a tri-annual childcare meltdown for many parents. There must be a ‘3rd way’ here.

If the children and teachers need a break from learning / teaching, maybe we could still send them to school but on the basis they don’t need to do any work and then use security guards to keep order.

Or maybe we could use The Isle of Wight as a ‘Half Term Sanctuary’ where all children can be sent with a free access ticket to any hotel or supermarket.

But, whatever you do, don’t go sending them off in a helium filled weather balloon. Recent tests in the USA have shown this does not work.

We do appreciate that October 20th might seem a tad premature to be writing about Christmas food but we have a reason! In the run up to Christmas, we simply can't get our hands on certain high quality ingredients at short notice, so about now we have to make a decision about how many turkeys, venison and other Christmas products to cook at our kitchen meaning when they have run out, they really have run out.

If you can order for any of the delivery slots in the week or two before Christmas then it would be splendid as it will ensure that you definitely get exactly what you want and we have a better chance of cooking the right amount to go round.

As well as all our normal Christmas food such as our Stuffed Crown of Turkey and Beef Wellington , this year we also have two new delicious dishes - Guinea Fowl in Whisky Sauce and Venison with Port and Orange.
